Padel court dimensions, and the space you really need.
The court is 20 × 10 m. The project is bigger: posts, doors, access and, indoors, the height above the court. Every figure here is given in meters and feet, with its source.
What are the dimensions of a padel court?
A doubles padel court is 20 m long and 10 m wide inside its walls (65 ft 7 in × 32 ft 10 in), or 200 m² (2,153 ft²). The service lines sit 6.95 m from the net. Indoors, the FIP rules require at least 6 m (19.7 ft) of clear height and suggest 8 m (26.2 ft) for new facilities.

The court is not the footprint
The 20 × 10 m figure is measured inside the walls. The enclosure posts sit outside that line, players need a way in through the doors, and the court next door needs its own clearance. We plan with 21 × 11 m per court, about 231 m² or 2,486 ft², and refine it on the site survey.
Courts can sit side by side in a row, or in a windmill around a central square when the site is close to square. Four courts in a windmill fit on two adjacent tennis courts, which a simple grid cannot do.
Indoors, height decides before area does
The FIP rules ask for 6 m of clear height over the whole court, with nothing in that space: no beams, lights, ducts or sprinklers. For new facilities they suggest 8 m. A building at 6 m is legal, but high lobs will reach the roof more often, and players notice.
Measure under the lowest obstruction, not at the ridge. A warehouse sold as 9 m clear can lose a meter to sprinklers and lighting.

01How big is a padel court in feet?
65 ft 7 in long and 32 ft 10 in wide inside the walls, which is 2,153 ft². With posts and access, plan about 69 × 36 ft per court.
02How much space do you need to build a padel court?
Plan 21 × 11 m (69 × 36 ft) per court, about 231 m² or 2,486 ft². Two courts side by side need about 21 × 22 m. Indoors, add at least 6 m of clear height, 8 m for a new facility.
03What ceiling height does indoor padel need?
The FIP rules require a minimum of 6 m (19.7 ft) clear over the whole court and suggest 8 m (26.2 ft) for new facilities. Measure under the lowest beam, light, duct or sprinkler.
04Is a padel court smaller than a tennis court?
Yes. A padel court covers 200 m² inside its walls. A tennis court with its run-off covers about 669 m² (120 × 60 ft). One tennis footprint takes one padel court as it is, or three if the slab is widened by about 2.7 m.
05Is there a singles padel court?
Yes. Singles courts keep the 20 m length and are narrower, 6 m wide. They suit narrow plots and coaching, but most players and most bookings are doubles.
